Pharmaceutics is an interdisciplinary science, which has seen enormous growth in the past decade. Pharmaceutics mainly deals with the development, production and evaluation of pharmaceutical dosage forms. Pharmaceutics contain certain other disciplines like Industrial Pharmacy, Physical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Engineering. Knowledge of Industrial Pharmacy deals with production of dosage forms and machinery used in pharmaceutical companies. Physical Pharmacy deals with pre-formulation study and pre-requisite for dosage form development. Pharmaceutical Engineering helps in resolving industrial scale production problems. The subject involves many aspects like pre-formulation, optimisation, selection of design and evaluation parameters of novel and controlled release formulation. With the aim to explore such fundamentals each laboratory is well equipped.
Various dosage forms developed like niosomes, microsphere and solid dispersion. Over the time, department have acquired adequate expertise and skills to develop various kinds of modern formulations of drugs which are in demand and are need of the day.

Pharmaceutical chemistry is a traditionally accepted as a branch of organic chemistry, the subject has reached a tremendous level of complexity today. It involves many aspects like synthesis, isolation, purification and characterization of anticipated organic compounds that can be used in medicine for the treatment and cure of diseases. On the other hand it establishes a link between chemical structure and biological activity. Medicinal Chemist plays a very crucial role in the design and development of selective, potential, non-toxic, new chemical entities which meet all the desired pharmacokinetic properties. Analytical Chemistry deals with qualitative and quantitative techniques of analysis. The special emphasis is on application in research and in industry. With the aim to explore and elaborate such fundamentals in a systematic manner undergraduate chemistry department is designed which is comprised of five labs devoted to medicinal chemistry, Analytical chemistry, Organic chemistry, Biochemistry and inorganic pharmaceutical chemistry. Each laboratory is well equipped with state of the art instruments to give hands on experience to the students.
Synthesis and characterization: Synthesis of designed compounds can be carried out using conventional and GREEN CHEMISTRY techniques using Microwave etc.
Analytical testing: Chromatographic analysis by HPLC, Photostability testing, accelerated stability testing, Herbal drug standardization.

Department of Pharmacognosy is actively involved in a pharmacognostic study of crude drugs from natural sources i.e. Plants, animals and marine sources. Continuous research include identification, extraction, isolation, chemical test of phytoconstituents. The department also carried out development and standardization of herbal formulation and cosmetics. The department used to engross in development and maintenance of medicinal garden and herbal museum. The faculty member of department had received grants from SavitribaiPhule Pune University and successfully completed the research. The department also organizes group discussion and state level seminars on topic related to subject. Students actively take part in preparation of herbarium.

The Department of Pharmacology is headed by Dr. R. V. Shete, who has 30 years of administrative, academic and research experience in Pharmacy Academia, and has served as Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SavitribaiPhule Pune University, Pune and Vice President of Association of Pharmacy Teachers of India. Faculty members are highly qualified and experienced and work to advance the forefronts of new knowledge to develop novel therapeutic approaches for treatment of diseases. The scope of the department is to provide quality preclinical education in pharmacology for the students of B.Pharm, M.Pharm and Ph.D.
The department has UG-Laboratory with all the facilities (including simulation) to perform the experiments and studies as per the B Pharm Curriculum. In the Research Laboratory post graduate and Ph.D research scholars to carry out preclinical research for development of new drugs for the treatment of diseases; to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms of drug actions and to derive the intermolecular reactions underlying biological systems etc.
The pharmacology research lab is equipped with all the required instruments like Dual stereotaxic instrument, Power lab data acquisition system, Autoanalyzer, Digital Actophotometer, Eddy’s hot plate analgesiometeretc to undertake research activities. The staff of Department of Pharmacology are actively involved as research Supervisors in executing projects related to arthritis, , diabetes mellitus, hypertension, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, In vitro and in vivo assay development, cardiovascular system, psychopharmacology, respiratory disorders, drug interaction studies and toxicological evaluation. The faculty members have research projects from various funding agencies like AICTE, UGC and they have been involved in collaborative research with academic, research institutions.
The department has CPCSEA approved Animal House (Registration No. 615/PO/Re/S/02/CPCSEA dated 04/11/2016) for conducting experiments and research work on small laboratory animals like mice, rats. The Animal House is maintained as per the CPCSEA guidelines

The quality assurance is a wide ranging concept covering all aspects of quality that individually or collectively influence the quality of products. The good manufacturing practices for drugs have now become a mandate for the market to follow under the systematic, sustainable and scientific approach adopted through the SOP’s. Under such a conscious environment, it is evident that a stream like quality assurance finds its relevance, especially when the market at large comes up with more demands in the future for perfectly trained and expert quality assurance personnel. Quality assurance deals with good manufacturing practices, ICH guidelines, calibration, validation, documentation and quality audits, with a view to create total quality consciousness.
